北京语言大学
Beijing Language and Culture University is unique in that it is the only university in Beijing that's main purpose is to
teach Chinese to foreigners.  While the school does also have Chinese students dedicated to studying foreign languages,
it's main focus is Mandarin training.  

The school has over 9,000 international students enrolled from over 110 countries.  BLCU distinguishes itself by its
unique cultural atmosphere of diversity, which attracts a large number of students from both home and abroad. Since the
founding of the University, more than 60,000 students from over 160 countries and regions have stepped out into the
world from there over the past 40 years.

Recent developments to the area have made living at  or
near the campus much more comfortable.  The completion
of the above ground light rail system in 2001 has made the
campus much more accessible. Travel to other parts of
Beijing from the school is  now easy and cheap.  
The
Huaqing apartment complex, located across from the
southwest corner of the  university, provide comfortable and
convenient  housing.  The development of the entire
Wudaokou  area means there are now a large number of and
wide  variety of restaurants, many bars, a movie theater,
clothing shops, banks, and other amenities that make living
and studying in the area quite enjoyable.

BLCU is increasing its cooperation and exchange with
numerous foreign countries, and right now it has built
partnerships with 130 universities from 32 countries in the
BLCU Main Building
world. Overseas branch schools have been set up in the Republic of Korea, Singapore and Thailand.

Students can opt to live on campus in the foreign student dormitories provided by the university, or can find an apartment
in the many apartment complexes located near the campus.
